Elekta Unity MRI commissioning, quality assurance and clinical utilization

The Elekta Unity enables online adaptive radiotherapy through the integration of a 1.5 T superconducting magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system with a 7 MV flattening filter free (FFF) medical linear accelerator. The use of MRI for adaptive planning represents a significant improvement in image quality over standard cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) but may also represent a new technology for some centers. The implementation of MRI for adaptive therapy requires comprehensive commissioning and the creation of an MRI specific quality assurance program. The experience at the University of Iowa in building an MRI-based adaptive radiotherapy program, including commissioning, quality assurance and the routine utilization of MRI is presented in this webinar.
