The opportunities for online adaptive MR-guided radiotherapy in rectal cancer are twofold. First, current neoadjuvant treatment strategies could be improved through daily adaptation the MRI visualized anatomy. Therefore, smaller margins for uncertainty are required, resulting in a significant reduction of normal tissue in the treatment field. Second, MR-guided online adaptive radiotherapy dose escalation could play an important role in increasing the number of patients suitable for organ preservation treatment strategies in rectal cancer.
In this webinar, both advantages of MR-guided online adaptive radiotherapy will be discussed, besides a more practical explanation of the workflow which is used to treat rectal cancer patients on the Unity MR-Linac.
